14 & 15 August.
We arrived in Telford after a comparatively short but pretty drive through the English countryside. The tomtom managed to get us to kays house in one go without getting lost. When we arrived it was just Kay and her little girl pheobe at home. Phoebe is the cutest little girl, and as there are only 3 days between her and Jeshaiah in age, I instantly started thinking about him. Of course he is more gorgeous (just a little biased), but he is a boy, so Phoebe can retain the title of cutest little girl! When we arrived she kept on saying "Allo....Allo" in her Midlands accent. Then it would be" Are u alright? I alright" just delightful. After a wee while my aunty Angie and Uncle Tony arrived, a little bit stressed. Its four days till the wedding and they were hunting frantically for a suit for him to wear. Needless to say they were both feeling stressed. Thankfully the following day was more successful for them when it came to suit hunting.
We put up uncle Nobbys tent in the backyard- well I watched, and took photos- whilst aunty Angie and Josh put up most of the tent. Me and unclte Tony helped towards the latter half! For now we are sleeping inside upstairs, and aunty angie and uncle Tony are in the tent outisde. Sounds like the sleeping arrangements will change again as the wedding draws closer and more people arrive from out of town.
In the evening I phoned my uncle Peter to arrange to catch up with him whilst we are in the area. His wife Margaret answered the phone. As she had no idea who i was - even when i said i was Peps daughter- she handed the phone to Uncle Peter, who was a bit jet lagged but knew who I was! We agreed to meet the following night. I then tried calling my Uncle Steve to arrange the same thing, but the phone wasnt answered.
When we got up on Wednesday Mike was home looking after Pheobe. He is lovely too, and cooked us an English breakfast, (I thought i was going to lose lots of weight on this trip, but the opposite seems to be more of a reality). After breakfast Auntiy Angie and Uncle Tony went and got Lucy- their other grandaughter- and we went out together to the mall. It was huge three or four times the size of westcity. The children loved the clock there, It is a big toad, that blows bubbles on the hour every hour.
Telford is the area where the Industrial Revolution began, so there were a number of characters in the mall depicting that. We were going to visit Blist Hill, a working Victorian village, but it poured with rain- hopefully we will get there before we leave.
This evening we went to visit Uncle Peter and Aunty Margaret in nearby Bridgnorth. We had a lovely time, and they were really friendly. They had a cute little Welsh Terrier called Tilly. We sat around the table for a few hours chatting about all sorts of things, from countries they have been too, through to how they came to have such a huge (1/2 acre) back garden compared to my tiny English gardens. It was lovely to catch up with them.
