5 August.

Had another great day today.  It started off with cooked breakfast which included Back pudding. Dom remembered what it was and was hesitant to eat it. AS Josh was eating it he said that t was yum, and Dillon liked it but was wanting to know what it was. Aunty Shirley refused to tell him, until he had eaten it! funny! I used to eat it as a child, but now i am a little older, havent eaten it for years, and now know what it is, i couldn't really enjoy it.
After breakfast we got our stuff ready, and headed off to the metro (train). On the agenda was a climb up the light house at Whittley Bay, and winkle picking at the same place. we were then going to go to North shields where my nan was orgiinally from - however the weather had other ideas.
We caught the metro to Whittley bay then walked a couple of miles along the beach to the lighthouse. The sky was a little overcast, but when the sun broke through it was lovely. The tide was out, and there was lots of little rock pools that little children were playing in.
The lighthouse is over 100 years old, and used to run on parrafin. We climbed to the top and looked at across the ocean. Poor Dom was teased by Dillon who told her that the stairs were breaking off as we climbed up the light house. They were little concrete steps attached to the wall of the lighthouse, spiralling up to the top. After our lighthouse climb we spotted a seal, on the rocks outside of the lighthouse. Then we watched a punch and judy show. Hahah i couldnt believe it. I hadnt seen one of them since my childhood. Hadnt changed much at all. Then came time to leave. Just as we were preparing to leave a massive thunderstorm came. My aunty Shirley ran screaming to the back of the shop and dom started to get teary. The thunder was roaring, and lightening flashing all over the place! for a while it was right over the top of us, as they were booming and flashing together. The rain was bucketing down. We had to leave the lighthouse, as the tide was on its way back in, and we could have got trapped. Only problem was we had two jackets between 6 of us, and they werent waterproof. We had two miles to walk, and it was the biggest thunderstorm i have seen since we lived here. We did it, we just started walking and didnt stop. doms arm was tightly locked into mine, lightening was flashing all over the place, and i just kept telling her, we have to keep walking to get out of this storm.
Eventually we got back to the train station. There were huge delays and some trains were cancelled, because of all the flooding caused by the storm. but eventually we managed to get trains and get home, where we could get out of our icy wet clothes and warm up. Bless em, my aunty and uncle thought we might enjoy the train ride, it certainly made the day memorable. lovely english summer!
