16 August- Telford cont

This morning we hung out at home, and the lovely Mike cooked us pancakes for breakfast. Dom and I went for a walk up to the local shops, in the tiny village. Some of the houses here are really old, and tiny but lovely. They are full of character. As we walked back to the house, i tried to call Uncle Steve again. This time he was home. He invited us over for dinner.

In the afternoon we went with Kay and Phoebe to Cosford. It as a Royal Airforce military museum, but also continues to operate as a RAF airbase. There were all sorts of different planes there. It made me realise that the NZ airforce really is as little as they say it is lol. In one of the hangars that we went into there were huge planes across the floor, but there were also planes hanging suspended in the air, by cables from the ceiling. Dillon was in his element there.

Josh Dillon Dom and Kay went into a flight simulator whilst they were there. We hung out there for an hour or two and then came back to Broseley via the backroads - which was fine until we came to a little bridge with weight restrictions. It had posts that you had to drive under, so that big vehicles could not enter. Kay pulled over ahead of the bridge and asked if we would be able to get through. I said i had no idea, and there was one way of finding out- so i drove cautiously towards the bridge. The first bar was fine, we went through with no problem. The second bar looked ok, but as we went under it, the roof went bang. I couldnt believe it, then, i heard laughter in the back - Josh had stuck his hand out of the window, and hit the roof so it would sound like I had hit the pole! grrr.

In the early evening we headed over to Uncle Steve's and aunty Debbies, We had a lovely time there catching up on the years. After a few hours Debbies sister Sheila turned up with her husband and daughter. It was amazing I couldn't remember Sheila or her daughter, but they remembered me! Sheila told me how she used to get on well with my mum, and how she took over her job as a lollipop lady- had to explain to josh dillon and dom what a lollipop lady was :) Apparently her daughter used to go to school with my brother- but i couldnt remember. Had a lovely evening with them and then returned to Kays where we met more family who had arrived for the wedding whilst we were at uncle Steves. We agreed to return in October for a few days to stay, if we were able.
