Lyme Regis/ Bournemouth

Lyme Regis and Bournemouth.
We packed up and said our farewells in Tintagel after a lovely time with Uncle Ian and aunty Felicity. We were heading off to the Jurrassic Coast for the day, and then were going to couchsurf in Bournemouth.
Deciding where to go on the Jurrasic coast was tricky. Lyme Regis and Charmouth were places where people frequently find fossils, but in summer the beaches become crowded, so it can be a little more difficult to find them. A couple of other spots were known to be really good, but there had been recent rock falls making them dangerous - two days before we arrived, a woman was killed in one of the rockfalls. In the end we decided on Lyme Regis. It was pouring with rain so hopefully wouldnt be too many people there, and it hadnt had any recent rockfalls to my knowledge so was a safe option.  When we arrived it was bucketing it down with rain. Josh decided he was going to go and look for them anyway, he wasnt worried about the rain. He set off with his umbrella, and then Dominique and I decided that we would do the same. We walked along the shingle in the downpour, fighting the wind with our umbrellas, the wind won and snapped my umbrella post into two pieces! A section of the beach had been closed off due to rockfalls. After walking for about ten minutes, and praying that God would open our eyes to see some fossils, we saw some on big rocks. They were way too big to bring home, but it was great to see them. Josh was up in the part of the beach that was closed due to rockfalls. Dom and I didnt see any fossils we could bring home. But when we got back to the van, we saw that Josh had scored some. I decided to go back out with my camera. Surprise surprise i couldnt see any of the ones that i had already seen, but equaly surprise surprise i saw some that i could take home- if i am allowed to take them through customs.  I had out of curiosity ventured up to the closed part of the beach, not as far as josh went, but a bit beyone the signs. (I remembered that one of the fossil sites online said that locals waited for rocks to fall, so that they could collect some decent fossils). I walked near to one of the big boulders that came down in a recent rockfall, and lo and beyold there were a whole load of fossils. I grabbed four or five rocks and decided i would smash them later to see what else i could find.
We headed into town soaking wet to get some postcards and then we went to Bournemouth where we were couchsurfing for the night before heading on to Folkestone. The lady we stayed with - Kim- was lovely. She was really warm and friendly and had prepared a lovely meal for us all for the night. She heard Josh was sick, and prepared him a salt gargle to help with his throat. Really kind, but loaded with a bit much salt, Josh ended up kneeling over the toilet! After that we ate together and chatted around the table for a bit, then all headed for bed. It was lovely at kims place, and almost a shame that we were  only there for one night.
